If I had approached you in the week between Christmas and New Years: "How was your 2016?"...what would your answer have been?
For too many people, the review of life comes down to a broad brush of good versus bad, instead of an actual recounting of blessings.
In 2016 we had a hotly-contested presidential election, we lost a ton of celebrities...and we had a hotly-contested presidential election.
Many people flipped their calendar to 2017 saying "Thank God that's over!"
Sadly, too many of us are unaware of how many gifts we truly have to be thankful for in this life. When asked what they are grateful for, most people simply respond: "I'm thankful for my family, my health and my job".
Okay, that's three.
Sadly, I have observed these same people simply repeating these three things when asked again, even a month later.
I learned a HUGE lesson several years ago about gratitude when I decided to keep my ears, ears, mind and heart open to daily opportunities to be thankful.
For more than 5 years, I have kept a hand-written Gratitude Journal. It has been a HUGE asset in my journey not only as a professional speaker, but also a person who is determined to 'find the good' in every day.
The best part: when I am having a down day, I can still find 'something' in there somewhere to be thankful for, as hard as it may seem sometimes.
I hope this video message proves to be something you are grateful for today, even if it just made you smile.
